Installation of a waste disposer for social housing at a reduced 15% VAT rate

Act No. 235/2004 Coll. (the VAT Act) §48a allows the installation of a garbage disposal unit and all related activities associated with it, for social housing constructions, to be included in the reduced 15% VAT rate. Social housing constructions refer to retirement homes, children's homes, social care facilities, and similar facilities designated for the permanent or temporary accommodation of eligible individuals. The exact definition of social housing can be found in the above-mentioned paragraph. Otherwise, the standard 21% VAT rate applies.
